About Olive and Lemons

My first memories of baked goods, homemade jams/ Pickles, and Sunday dinners were at my grandmother's. She grew up in England, and was in one of the world’s leading culinary schoat Le Cordon Bleu. It always smelled  scrumptious in my nanna’s kitchen, and we all looked forward to enjoying her creations of love.

I still remember the first cake I made at 9 years old - I couldn’t wait for my nanna to try it. We all took a bite, then another, put our forks down and my nanna said, “show me all your ingredients you used”! But before I even had a chance to  show her, she said “I think you used baking soda instead of baking power.” She was correct! Oh My-that was a huge lesson for me.

My husband and I moved to VA over 11 years ago, coming from Montreal Canada where we grew up. After college I became a preschool teacher,  then moved on to sales and motivational speaking. My passion and focus was always to be a mentor for women while in Montreal. 

When we moved to the USA, I opened a private childcare/preschool and ran it for 7 years AND made homemade meals, snacks and birthday cakes for all the children.

As an adult I have always enjoyed entertaining, throwing themed New Years parties, Birthday Parties, girls’ nights, and dinner parties, wand the food I prepared was always one of my passions. During the years many friends have said I should focus my energy on starting my own business centered on food preparation and design!

After the Childcare I decided to investigate the charcuterie/catering business. Since our friends and family have complimented me on my presentation and “les aliments” I served at get together’s, I decided to try out my "culinary charcuterie” skills with friends and family. There were compliments again, and friends telling me I should look at doing some kind of business in this field. So here we are.
